West Midlands marketing communications agency, Gough Bailey Wright, has scooped two gold awards at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards 2011, one of the biggest accolades in the industry.
The awards ceremony, which took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Friday night (2nd December), celebrated the best PR campaigns in the region over the past twelve months, after receiving over 1,000 entries.
Gough Bailey Wright, based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, picked up gold awards for Best Public Affairs and Best Use of Media Relations campaigns for clients Sainsbury’s and Drayton Manor Theme Park, respectively.
The award for Best Use of Media Relations was won for a creative campaign to promote Drayton Manor Theme Park during February and half-term by using two male monkeys, named Elton and David, who were regularly seen hugging at the park’s zoo. The campaign was tied-in with Valentine’s Day.
Comments from the judges were: “The use of ‘Elton and David’ as a source of media interest was a PR masterstroke and this outstanding media relations campaign is a worthy winner!”
Sue Bailey, Managing Director at Gough Bailey Wright, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received these awards, which are a fantastic reflection of the continued growth and success of the agency.
“The commitment of our team is second to none and their drive to deliver the best results for our clients is outstanding. Our ethos of passion, dedication and going the extra mile for our clients is the key to our continued progress as an agency and we are keen to extend what is now a three year run of top level awards.”
