Michelle Wright named IPA City Head

Michelle Wright, our Company Director, has been appointed City Head for Birmingham and the Midlands by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA).

The appointment, announced at the IPA Midlands annual dinner last night in Birmingham (7th November), means Michelle will champion professionalism in the region, raising awareness and promoting best practice and training in the advertising industry.

Michelle will work with fellow City Heads, as well as IPA Chair for England and Wales, Andy Reid, to maintain the IPA’s well-earned reputation for thought leadership and continuous professional development throughout the marketing communications industry.

Michelle has been joint owner of GBW for 15 years, along with her business partner, our MD, Sue Bailey. Her expertise lies in planning and strategy, creative services, digital marketing and new business development.

Michelle said: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to be City Head and represent our region. After more than 30 years in the industry I’ve earned my stripes and I’m looking forward to giving something back in my new role. I’m very passionate about championing our industry and promoting the IPA for Birmingham and the Midlands.”

Sue Bailey added: “Being an IPA agency requires us to meet strict criteria in terms of staff training and ethical standards, something we’ve been doing consistently for over 60 years. As one of only a handful of IPA agencies in the region this really elevates us in terms of industry leading marketing and access to training, research, insight, legal support and much more, which we can tap into for all of our clients.

“Michelle will do a fantastic job promoting the IPA in the region and advocating the benefits of using an IPA agency.”
